In a continuing effort to remain on the cutting edge of technology we have purchased two new instruments to replace the older models for our lab:
New Microwave Accelerated Reaction System-
The microwave digestion of samples is critical to reliable assays. This process accelerates the acid/ sample reaction by superheating the mixture, allowing the destruction of difficult materials. Glines & Rhodes, Inc. applies this technology to the analysis of many platinum group alloys containing iridium, rhodium and ruthenium, as well as tantalum, titanium, and tungsten, which would otherwise not be able to digest. This assures complete destruction and dissolution of the material, which then can be analyzed by ICP Spectroscopy.
New ICAP Spectrometer-
We installed a brand new Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer. This gives us the newest ICP technology, enabling us to perform, with precision and accuracy, analysis of any element above sodium on the periodic table. We have the capability of looking at multiple wavelengths for each element, which allows us to avoid spectral interferences, improving our results. Glines & Rhodes uses this technology to perform compositional analyses on materials containing both precious and base metals.
