TYPES OF MATERIALS
Glines & Rhodes, Inc. is extremely capable of refining numerous types of high grade materials that contain gold, platinum, silver, palladium, iridium, rhodium and ruthenium. These materials may be generated from manufacturing or R&D processes such as metal clippings, grindings, stampings, over-runs or obsolete inventory.
Depleted platinum equipment and sensors such as crucibles, catalysts or thermocouple wire may also be sources of high recoverable value. We reclaim volumes of material from customer-buy backs or liquidations of product such as jewelry, medical wire and components, and various other industrial scrap.
THE G&R ADVANTAGE
Glines & Rhodes, Inc. has been in the precious metal reclamation industry much longer than the competition and brings an unsurpassed combination of financial stability, integrity, and refining know-how. We aim to be the one-stop-shop refiner for all of our customers precious metal scrap categories whether large or small, and offer highly competitive rates.
We realize that time is also money for our customers and are dedicated to providing fast turnarounds, flexible settlements, and options for market hedging & monetary advancements.
Glines & Rhodes, Inc. has invested in modern and traditional refining technologies to extract precious metals from various forms of low-purity scrap. Our multiple incineration furnaces, ball mills, sifters and blenders are customized to handle the small polishing dust job to huge volumes of sweeps and filters.
Our acid-stripping process is an efficient and economical method of extracting precious metals off the surface of various plated materials, such as plastics or stainless steel.
TYPES OF MATERIALS
Low grade scrap may include various forms of media or waste collected from a manufacturing process using precious metals. These forms may include floor sweeps, filters, sludge, rags, wipes, buffing dust, embedded components and empty solder or braze tubes and canisters. Any scrap generated from machines that cut, lathe, polish, grind, use or manipulate precious metals may also qualify.
Other forms may include plated or coated parts or spent precious metal solutions. Our knowledgeable sales team is available to help identify, sample and establish new or overlooked areas of reclaim for our customers.
THE G&R ADVANTAGE
Glines & Rhodes, Inc. is nimble enough to refine small low grade lots and robust enough to handle tons of volume at a time. Our on-site, thorough processing is designed to achieve reliable results in the shortest amount of time to free-up our customers’ working capital sooner.
Our tenured sales team is available to audit our customer’s facility at no cost to help find new areas of precious metal reclaim and minimize existing asset loss. Tamper-resistant drums and containers for scrap are offered at no charge. Glines & Rhodes, Inc. follows all applicable federal and state environmental mandates and helps our customers recycle its waste streams into reusable metals, further benefiting the environment.
EXPERT ASSAY LABORATORY
"We made the capital investment in equipment and assay processes to improve your investment & capital"
Various methods are used by refiners and buyers to assay precious metals. Each method requires a unique set of equipment, training, and cost structure which produces different standards of precision, accuracy, reliability and performance time. Glines & Rhodes, Inc. chooses the fire assay method for determining gold and silver content because it is widely regarded for its superior accuracy and reliability. Fire assaying is not as fast and cheap as XRF, but we have found the extra diligence, precision and accuracy of this method overcompensates in higher net returns for customers.
The fire assay process, or “cupellation,” is actually a miniaturized version of purifying gold. Fire assaying oxidizes off base metal alloys in a sample and produces 24 karat fine gold. The weight of the sample going into to the process is precisely measured against the weight of pure gold sponge recovered. Fire assay is capable of precision down to 2-3 parts in 10,000.
We have made the heavy investment in equipment and training to be experts in ICP analysis. Our laboratory technicians use ICP to determine your platinum group metal content with excellent accuracy, reliability, and precision to a part per million. This precision allows us to determine the percentage composition of even the smallest traces of metals present, including elements above sodium in the Periodic Table of Elements.
Inductively Coupled Plasma uses an extremely high temperature plasma source that vaporizes, excites and ionizes atoms in a sample. This plasma temperature may reach 12000-14000 F. Each atom or molecule present will emit a different spectra, or light wave, that can be effectively measured and analyzed to provide the overall percentage composition.
X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) is a fast and less costly alternative to measure metal composition. Since metals are generally so dense in nature, only the surface of material can be measured. XRF is not regarded as being as accurate as fire assay or ICP, so therefore Glines & Rhodes, Inc. does not use it to settle on refining lots. Instead we use XRF when a quick and non-destructive estimate is needed.
About Glines & Rhodes
Glines & Rhodes, Inc. was established in 1915 and has earned a solid reputation of integrity and stability. As the need for our precious metal refining services has spread from jewelry into other marketplaces such as medical, industrial, and gold buying, we have expanded our services in order to provide the customer the best overall satisfaction.
Our Regional Account Managers work hard to audit the customer's facility and understand their process, using their experience in the industry to locate areas where assets may currently be lost and turn these into profits. Our goal is to be the one-stop-shop refiner, deliver fast, accurate and reliable returns, flexible settlement and trading options, and recover the maximum precious metal scrap value possible.
